As part of their corporate social responsibility program, a global IT vendor wanted to host a “Hackathon” for middle school children. The event would encourage innovative thinking, incorporating technology and advocating solutions that have a positive impact in the community.
A major challenge was to introduce the kids to design thinking principles and teach them problem solving skills while balancing the teaching moments with a great experience.
We designed hand-crafted activities and supporting tools and methodologies to engage the children in the process of a child-friendly Hackathon.
By creating a framework of a game, the children learned common design thinking processes such as research, ideation and prototyping.
